firm of Baxter & Lovell. Subsequently he became a partner of Mr. Buddendorff, a respectable
merchant of this city.
Was one of the founders of the Howard Association of New Orleans & president from 1866
until he died in 1876. HA was a volantary organization for fighting yellow fever. During the
epidemic of 1873, he repaired to Shreveport, and at the risk of his own life rendered many
invaluable services to the poor and suffering people of that place.
