    • Her mother had been French, a language which she used in conversation, but othervise she talked German. The births of her children, who were all born at Riga, were nevertheless registered at Wismar. In 1855 Betty gave 1000 silver roubles to the town, in fulfilment of a wish expressed by Joachim before his death.
